Welcome to the homepages of Medway Internal Drainage Boards.
What do we do?
We are a body which work alongside the Environment Agency and your local authority, to maintain the integrity of our local waterways and land drainage of the surrounding areas.
Our expenses for this service are collected through drainage rates and special levies.
There are two Internal Drainage Boards associated with the River Medway:
Upper Medway Internal Drainage Board (dealing with upland water and fluvial flooding);
Lower Medway Internal Drainage Board (dealing with lowland water and mainly tidal flooding).

The Upper Medway Internal
Drainage Board’s drainage district
covers the following areas:
East Peckham, Edenbridge, Forest Row,
Frittenden, Groombridge, Headcorn, Lingfield, Maidstone, Marden, Paddock Wood, Penshurst,
Staplehurst, Tonbridge and Yalding.
|

The Lower Medway Internal
Drainage Board’s drainage district
covers the following areas:
Cuxton, Faversham, Hoo, Isle of Grain,
Isle of Sheppey, Lower Halstow, Minster,
